Lian Yu (Mandarin: 炼狱 Liànyù, translated as purgatory) is an island in the North China Sea that Oliver Queen was stranded on for five years, between 2007 and 2012, before he was found by fishermen.
Upon arrival after the shipwreck, Oliver burried his father, under stone rocks. At first, it seemed that Oliver was alone on the island. However, in the second episode it is revealed that there is another man living on the island.
